Malkin's innovative work is known for it's eye-catching and cutting-edge aesthetic and has earned several prestigious awards and nominations including AICP Visual Style honors for Nike "Magnet" and "Move", which also picked up an Emmy, as well as an AICP Excellence Honoree for Nike "Freestyle". Malkin has also been behind the camera for many of the leading car companies in the world including campaigns for Cadillac, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Chrysler, VW, and Volvo. He also recently shot the award-winning Dead Weather music video for Jonathan Glazer.
Having established a successful career as a cinematographer, Malkin finally took the leap to directing music videos and commercials and has since shot spots for clients such as American Express, Sony, Gatorade and Nike including the much-talked about "Earl and Tiger" spot, which stirred a remarkable global media frenzy. In early 2010, Malkin joined the Prettybird director's roster where he continues to earn praise directing high-end commercial campaigns.
In 2003, Malkin shot his first feature film Blind Horizon, directed by Michael Haussman and starring Val Kilmer, Sam Sheppard and Faye Dunaway. More recently, he collaborated with David O. Russell on Nailed, starring Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhall and Cathryn Keener, which is scheduled for a 2010 release.
